Who we are
Cambium Developments is a Hampshire-based company specialising in housing developments that aim to deliver real community benefits. We are preparing an outline planning application for up to 50 new homes set around a new village green, together with community allotments and provision of land for a new village hall on land South East of The Wayne, Fyfield.
We have prepared this consultation website to provide an opportunity for the local community to submit feedback on the emerging proposals before a planning application is submitted, helping to ensure the scheme reflects local priorities and provides lasting benefits for Fyfield. We have also undertaken pre-application consultation with Test Valley Borough Council to gain their thoughts and feedback on the proposals.
The Site
The site lies on the south-eastern edge of Fyfield, adjoining Grange Close and Walnut Tree Ground, and contains an agricultural grassland field with three agricultural barns that benefit from planning permission for the demolition of the barns and erection of 5 dwellings (ref. 24/01897/FULLN), together with two existing dwellings known as The Wayne - a pair of semi-detached bungalows within the site boundary.
To the north-west of the site is existing residential development along Grange Close, Fyfield Road and Walnut Tree Ground, where a mixture of bungalows and modest two-storey dwellings are located. To the north-east and south-east are farmed arable fields with hedgerow boundaries and large trees. To the south-west of the site are a collection of agricultural barns, which are part of Manor Farm, and Church of St Nicholas. To the west of the site is a grass field and a bank of vegetation, beyond which is Fyfield Grange.

Why Here?
There is a significant shortage of homes for people in the area. Test Valley Borough Council have therefore identified that more homes on more sites are needed to meet the needs of both existing people in the area and those who would like to move to the area. The proposals set out here look to address the shortage in homes and importantly the need for more affordable homes within the area. They also look to address the significant shortage of accessible public open space within Fyfield.
The Draft Test Valley Local Plan 2042 recognises that growth in rural areas is needed to sustain the vitality of villages and to help maintain local services. Fyfield is already a sustainable rural village with access to key local services including a primary school and sports facilities. The provision of additional homes in Fyfield would help to support the longevity and continued viability of these existing services as well as providing the opportunity for new facilities for the village.
